Ukrainian family who escaped the conflict are to hold meal and music event at Rode Hall
A family who escaped war-torn Ukraine are putting on a special lunch at the historic Rode Hall near Sandbach in the courtyard kitchen
And a percentage of the takings from the Ukrainian lunch "Vechornytsy" this Saturday (December 16th) in the hall's 'Courtyard Kitchen' will go to the Ukraine Appeal.
Olha and her family escaped war torn Ukraine in 2022 and have been working at Rode ever since and living in Cheshire.
The talented cook is showcasing her skills with a traditional three-course Ukrainian lunch from 1 pm until 5 pm. There will also be live music from a Ukrainian band.
The cost of the meal is £35 per head or £30 for vegetarians. It will include a welcome non- alcoholic drink on arrival followed by compote and Kysil.
The food on offer also includes Borsch (Ukrainian soup with pork) with sour cream and traditional bread "pampushky" with dill and garlic.
There is also a vegetarian option - creamy soup with "galyshky" (dumplings), Varenyky (filled dumplings) with potatoes or stewed sauerkraut and vegetable salad vinaigrette.
Then there is Syrnyky (Ukrainian-style pancake) with different toppings.
