Voters in Sandbach's Elworth ward get ready to go the polls tomorrow

Voters in the Elworth ward in Sandbach go to the polls tomorrow (Thursday) in a town council by-election.

Three candidates are standing for one seat up for grabs in the Sandbach Town Council by-election.

The three candidates standing for the seat are Dave Poole (Conservative), Nicola Cook (Independent) and Michelle Hough (Liberal Democrats).

There is one polling station, Elworth Scout Hall in School Lane, where the three eligible districts within the ward will be voting.

The polling station opens at 7am tomorrow (Thursday) and voters have until 10pm to cast their votes.

Sandbach Town Council is made up of 20 councillors across four wards - Town Ward, Sandbach Heath and East Ward, Ettiley Heath and Wheelock Ward and Elworth Ward.

Councillors are elected by public vote every four years. Any vacancies occurring outside of the four yearly election may be filled by co-option or a by-election.

The winning candidate in the Elworth by-election will join the four current Elworth ward councillors – Cllr Sandra Broad (Labour), Cllr Kathryn Flavell (Labour), Cllr Gill Merry (Conservative) and Cllr Kieran Seymour (Independent).
