Here are our top event picks for the coming days: Friday February 18th Local amateur artist Alex Young (87) introduces his first exhibition, "A Useful Retirement", in the Marriott Room at Sandbach Library. Since retiring, Alex says painting has brought him "joy" and "challenge" and his wonderful work is on display to the local community. The exhibition, which opened on Monday, runs until March 14th during opening hours. Saturday February 19th Sandbach RUFC has a big weekend with both the 1st XV and 3rd XV at home. The 1st XV welcome Syston RFC whilst the 3rd XV welcome Newcastle-Under-Lyme. Kick off is 2:15pm. Meanwhile Sandbach United FC are at home to Cheadle Town at Hind Heath Road. Kick-off is 3pm. Live music is on at the Cheshire Cheese at Wheelock. The talented Sam Lyons, who has been gigging since the age of 14, is in concert. The gig start at 8.30 pm and everyone is welcome. Sunday, February 20th If running is your passion, Sandbach Striders is a running club for all abilities based out of Sandbach Rugby Club on Bradwall Road.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.
