It looks like a glorious weekend ahead in Sandbach. There's the annual vintage rally, a Roald Dahl production and a plant fair.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

Friday, May 27th

Smallwood Vintage Rally gets underway today – the family show, on the A50 near Sandbach.

The event is on for three days and has a host of activities and stalls plus big trucks and vehicles on show plus a nightly beer tent.

Friday sees the fairground in full swing, trade stands, auto jumble and craft marquee will be open plus dog training displays and tractor pulling in the afternoon. Entrance is £5 for adults on Friday.

Saturday, May 28th    

Calling all dog loves – the Old Hall's monthly pub dog walk is on. Meet at the pub for 9:30am for a quick bacon butty and a brew, to set off at 10am for a nice stroll around the local area.

No charge, just turn up on the day, any donations to Sandbach Animal Rescue.

Smallwood Vintage Rally continues today with a £10 entrance for adults. There will be vehicle and Steam engine parades, a dog display team and the return of the Pantonic Calypso Band plus the monster truck extravaganza.

At Sandbach Town Hall, JLW Productions present a brand-new production of James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl adapted by David Wood.

The story of Roald Dahl's classic tale is faithfully told by James himself and the insect characters – Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird, and Earthworm.

Sunday, May 29th

Sunday, May 29th Smallwood Vintage Rally is on again today. Sandbach's Foden's Brass Band will be performing there will be the monster truck extravaganza, vehicle and steam parades and the fairground.

For those wanting to keep fit, Sandbach Striders is a running club for all abilities based out of Sandbach Rugby Club on Bradwall Road.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.

Also on today at Rode Hall, Scholar Green is a specialist plant fair – a chance to buy some special plants as well as meet specialist plant growers and top nurseries. 

It runs from 11 am until 4pm and the gardens and tearooms are also open so you can make the most of your day. Admission is £6 and children £2.50 with under 5's free.
