It's the second weekend of the new year with lots to see and do – a talk, live rugby and football and live music.

Every Thursday, we bring you our top picks of events in Sandbach happening over the coming weekend.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

Friday, January 13th

 

Fascinated by sea birds and want to learn more? South Cheshire Ornithological Society has an interesting talk. Michael Potts is giving a presentation on "Mysteries of British Seabirds" at 7.30 pm at Ettiley Heath Community Centre in Elton Road. Visitors cost £3.    

Saturday, January 14th  

 

There's both live football and rugby in Sandbach on Saturday.

Sandbach United Football Club aka The Ramblers are at home to Abbey Hey. Kick-off is 3 pm.

Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road has another action-packed weekend. The 1st XV take on Northwich Rugby Union Football Club. The 2nd XV are away to Lytham St Annes' Fylde Rugby Club while the 3rd XV make the short trip to Holmes chapel.

Sandbach Rugby Club has a Comedy Night in the evening with some great acts lined up to raise funds for our Under 13s. Tickets are £15 and are available from Nadine Stanway on [email protected] or 07888 028348.

The Lower Chequer in Sandbach has JMD playing from 8pm.  

 

The Lion pub in Sandbach has a double header of live music from 7 pm. Good Habits, a fantastic trio playing Ska, reggae, blues and funk followed by Sonic Electro 80's and more until late.

 

Sunday, January 15th  

 

Want to start running? Sandbach Striders is a friendly club.  

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.
