It's the first weekend of the new year with lots to get away from the January blues – rugby, art and the opening of a new café.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

Friday, January 6th

Fancy having a go at art journaling or gelli printing? Both are happening at Sandbach Art Room (Cheshire Arts for Health) in Bradwall Road. Art journaling takes place from 10 am until 12 pm while gelli printing is on from 1 pm until 3 pm. There's also a craft and natter class between 1pm and 3 pm.

Rugby is back and so is 'Friday night lights'. The 3rd XV play Congleton 1st XV with a 7pm kick-off

Saturday, January 7th 

 

Teen art is on from 10 am until 12 pm while junior art for 11 years + is on from 1 pm until 2.30 pm.

Sandbach United Football Club aka The Ramblers are away to Alsager Town Football Club at their ground in Alsager, kick-off is 3 pm.

Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road has the 2nd XV v Preston Grasshoppers 2nd XV with a 2.15 pm kick-off while the 1st XV take on Manchester 1st XV away. 

Sandbach Social Club has its six-weekly meet-up at The George in Sandbach. Just turn up at 3 pm and someone will be on the door to greet you.

Higher Farm café in Byley opens today – another place to enjoy a coffee and watch the world go by.

Sunday, January 8th 

Want to start running? Sandbach Striders is a friendly club.  

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.
