Work has started improving a busy road junction in Sandbach after concerns about visibility for motorists.

Abbey Road was closed between 9 am and 4 pm today (Monday) to allow for the painting off road markings. Nub News told here how the junction between Abbey Road and Elworth Road in Elworth was getting a makeover.

Improvements are being made to the junction and the trees are also being trimmed to make it easier for motorists to see oncoming vehicles.

Elworth Cheshire East councillor, Nicola Cook, is using £2,500 of her ward budget to get improvements done to the junction.

Cllr Cook said previously: "The visibility is really poor and all of us that use that junction will know that you have to pull over the junction to see oncoming cars.

"Working with both Cheshire Police and Cheshire East Highways I am delighted to confirm that junction improvements will be made next week.

"The trees at the junction will also be trimmed to improve visibility."
