A Conservative councillor has accused Cheshire East of cancelling this month's full council meeting so the administration can hide from public scrutiny 'after taking a mauling at the October meeting'.
And Middlewich residents who had pledged to turn up at the meeting in Crewe on Thursday (November 18) have also slated the council's decision to cancel and vowed to be at next month's meeting to get answers to their questions.

Cheshire East's planning department is under such pressure because of nationwide recruitment problems that some staff are off sick and one new starter left after six weeks to join the private sector.
Members of the council's environment and communities committee were told a resourcing review is already under way and, at Thursday's meeting, new executive director of place Jayne Traverse offered to do a full review of the system.

Funding must be found soon to expand Sandbach Cemetery now that Cheshire East has acknowledged additional land at Hassall Road was set aside for burial purposes, a councillor has said.
Cllr Mike Benson (Sandbach Town, Con) said if there was only nine years' capacity at the cemetery in 2017 then there was probably only five years now.

Members of the environment and communities committee voted unanimously on Thursday to approve the draft Jodrell Bank Observatory supplementary planning document for four weeks of public consultation.
