Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer

Cheshire's Police and Crime Commissioner has praised two local councillors for going public about the abuse and threats they have suffered and warned such behaviour will not be tolerated.

John Dwyer was speaking after Cheshire East councillors Kate Parkinson and Charlotte Leach talked to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) last month about the abuse they had received since taking public office.

Campaigners working towards improving transport links in the North and politicians have all welcomed the Chancellor's Autumn Budget and Spending Review which included plans to invest in restoring passenger services on a forgotten South to Mid Cheshire rail link.

The rail plans - which if come to fruition could see direct services between Crewe-Sandbach-Middlewich-Northwich - are part of the government's £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund, which will also see £232 million delivered to twelve projects, including the regeneration of Liverpool's docks and the renovation of Bury Market.

Cheshire's 'Mr Strictly' aka professional dancer Mark Farrugia is hoping to pick up even more dance tips when he hot foots it on to radio next Saturday as a celebrity guest with TV presenter Claudia Winkleman.

The popular dance teacher, who travels all over Cheshire and Staffordshire with his weekly classes, has found his dance magic is now in the spotlight with bosses of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Royal British Legion's Sandbach branch's annual poppy appeal will get into top gear this weekend when members of the RBL's Riders branch ride into town to launch the event.

Members of the Riders branch are motor biking through Cheshire to raise money in support of armed forces veterans and servicemen and women and will be stopping off in Sandbach at around 3pm on Saturday (October 30th).
