Cheshire East has approved controversial plans to charge the over 85s for a lifeline care alarm system they currently get for free.
At the moment residents who are over 85 and live alone don't pay for the assistive technology (Telecare service) they receive.

The number of people killed or seriously injured on Cheshire's roads increased by more than 20 per cent over the past year - despite the country being in lockdown for half that time.
A Cheshire East councillor has asked the county's Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer the reason for the worrying increase and he has raised concerns over speeding.

Repairing Cheshire East's road network will take a staggering 400 years if the investment from government continues at the same rate, the chair of the highways committee has said.
Now Cheshire East is to press for more funding after highways committee vice chair Laura Crane (Sandbach Ettiley Heath & Wheelock) proposed that committee chairman Cllr Browne write to the DfT outlining the situation and asking for more funding, a move supported unanimously.

It was a united effort when four times cancer survivor Judith Colclough organised a fun-packed event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on the World's biggest coffee morning today.
Dozens of people turned out to the event today at The CrossBar at Sandbach United Football Club in Hind Heath Road for the event organised by Judith Colclough, wife of chairman Peter Colclough.
Sandbach's annual Wakes funfair is back in town and opens later today (Friday).
Fairground operators were spotted setting up the rides on the town's Scotch Common car park which is closed now until Tuesday (Setpember 28th) at 6am.

A Sandbach councillor says he voted against plans to raise £1m in council revenue from parking charges to protect the town's booming economy.
Councillor Mike Benson, who sits on Cheshire East Council's highways and transport committee, said plans to introduce car parking charges in council car parks in Sandbach made him "very, very nevous".
