The mayor of Sandbach has paid a visit to the areas newest care home to take part in a socially distanced tree planting ceremony and to officially welcome the team and residents to the town.

Elworth Grange care home on Booth Lane, Moston, is one of care provider, Ideal Carehomes, newest sites which has benefitted from a £10 million investment and provides all the finishing touches you would expect from a "luxurious" home.

Sandbach United saw their winning start to the season halted by the new table toppers Vauxhall Motors, with the home side running out 2-1 winners at the Syncreon Arena.

Andy Hockenhull made one change from the side that convincingly beat St Martins 5-1, with in-form Robbie Hatton unfortunately unavailable. However, promising young striker Bobbie McDonnell passed his fitness test following a recent knee issue to start the game.

The leader of Cheshire East Council has criticised the government's lack of communication over the implementation of local lockdown restrictions announced today.

Cllr Sam Corcoran said he first heard that the borough would go into the 'high' tier of restrictions through the media and only received official confirmation 20 minutes before the prime minister's announcement in parliament earlier today.
