24th Mar 2023 | Ten Questions
Every week, we ask Cheshire business people our Ten Questions, shining a light on local businesses and the people that make Cheshire a great place to work.
Claire Smith is the owner of Evolve Together, a Nantwich-based sales and marketing company. Claire had always dreamt of having her own business and partnering with clients to make a difference in their businesses and work on specific projects that aligned with her passions. After the sudden passing of her sister, she realised she had to do it.
Claire is taking this week's Ten Questions.
The best part of my job is….
Seeing results from helping my clients increase their brand awareness, leads and sales.
The hardest part of my job is….
Being patient! If I could wave a magic wand and get everything done straight away that would be great!
Favourite place in Cheshire?
Nantwich – I have lived here for 38 years, it is home. I love the town, the independent shops, cafes and restaurants and the history.
What was your first job?
Working in Nantwich market on the cheese stall at 16. It was great to see so many people shopping locally and enjoying a weekly chit-chat.
What causes are you most passionate about?
Mental health and wellbeing. It's good to talk and listen and support people where you can. I am only a phone call away and always there to support friends, family and work colleagues.
What career advice would you give your younger self?
Be kind to yourself. There are so many outside pressures on younger people nowadays. Just remember to be yourself and don't change for anyone.
Describe yourself in three words?
Bubbly, thoughtful and kind
Do you prefer to work in the office or work from home?
I love a hybrid approach. I work on clients' sites a few days a week then from home where I have to make my own brews!
How do you like to spend your time off?
With family and friends socialising, dog walking & shopping!
The proudest moment in your career so far?
Starting my own business in May 2020. Taking the leap of faith from the corporate world into self-employment was a massive decision for me. But I am loving it and wouldn't change it for the world.
