Co-op Store manager, Colin Mason, is busy preparing for a mega fundraising trip this month.

The adventure-loving retail boss is scaling new heights this month doing the Sahara/Toubkal Co-op Trek for the Co-op's charity partner Barnardo's.

Colin, who took over the reins at Lawton Way Co-op in the summer, sets off on his fundraising trip on February 28th.

Last year, he set up a book and DVD stall in the Lawton Way Co-op to raise money for the Sahara/Toubkal Co-op Trek.

Colin is an avid walker and hiker and has done many charity challenges in his time.

And on Saturday, car booters and customers helped him with the Sahara trek fundraising by supporting the sale.

"I'm always out walking which is my way of training for the trek. I lived in the Lake District which was great for walking.

"I walked recently on the Anglesey Coast as part of my training. It's mind over matter," said Colin.

Colin did the Everest Base camp challenge for the Co-op and is looking forward to the Sahara one.

He said last year: "As a father myself it will be empowering to think I am completing this challenge to help support children and families across the country to give them a better life," he said.

Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is the Co-op's national charity partner and is a charity close to Colin's heart.

Co-op members can help support Co-op's national and local causes just by doing their shopping as well as getting discounts and offers.
