Organisers of a group set up to keep Sandbach train station looking great are hoping a major project will secure them a place in two competitions.
And they are appealing for more people to come and join them and have fun helping to keep their plans on track.
The Friends of Sandbach Station are entering the station's art work project in two contests – the Best Kept Station and the Community Rail Awards.
Local artist, Victoria Holland, created murals using Posca pens, a favourite of street artists. Her work can also be seen in other businesses in the town.
At Sandbach station, she used the town's history and its links with Foden to create colourful images to welcome passengers and help put the town on the map.
Chair of the Friends of Sandbach Station, John Scarrott said he hoped Victoria's "super" work would help win a place in the competitions.
He said: "We were delighted with how they turned out and can't praise her enough. She's a super artist."
The group is launching a new logo and has several other plans in the pipeline including putting a 1960s sign on a platform for which they need a specialist company.
"We need a company that's recognised by Network Rail/Northern and can do a CAT scan for three holes to be dug. "
The Friends are meeting again on Saturday 7th August at 10am. Anyone who would like to get involved can contact the Friends through their Facebook page.
