Students at a Sandbach school will notice a difference when they return to school in September – a new extension at the popular school.

Work on a massive five class base extension at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College in Middlewich Road is nearing completion.

The extension, which will allow extra places to be offered at the over-subscribed school is being built on to the existing Henshall Building. It will see three classrooms upstairs and two downstairs and include a technology workshop.

Headteacher, Ellen Walton, is looking forward to the extension opening.

"We're all excited to be having the new classrooms and very much looking forward to the opening"

Councillor Kathryn Flavell, lead member for children and families at Cheshire East Council said: "The expansion of Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College by 150 places is currently on site with a five class base extension being built onto the existing Henshall Building and was necessary due to increasing pupil numbers at the school.

"We have worked very closely with the new leadership team at the school to deliver this scheme which is being financed with contributions from housing developers and will be completed in August this year."
