33-year-old local man arrested following high-speed chase near Sandbach

A 33-year-old man from Crewe was arrested at the scene - on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop (Cheshire Constabulary).

Cheshire Police have arrested a 33-year-old man from Crewe - following a high-speed chase across South Cheshire in the middle of the night.

The incident ended on Waldrons Lane, Crewe at approximately 12:30am today (October 17).

A driver from Crewe failed to stop for police on the A556, Rudheath, at approximately 11:50pm last night (October 16).

A police helicopter followed the high-speed chase across Crewe (Wikimedia Commons).

The man made off at speed onto the A530, King Street - travelling towards Middlewich.

Police were later seen on Groby Road, Broughton Road and other streets in Crewe - driving at high speeds to try and catch the man in a white Ford Transit van.

The Crewe driver's vehicle was stopped by a stinger.

He was arrested at the scene - on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

This morning (October 17), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News.

The Crewe driver's white Ford Transit van was stopped by a stinger (Crewe Police).

A spokesperson said: "At around 11.50pm on Sunday (October 16), police attempted to stop a white Ford Transit van on the A556, Rudheath.

"The driver of the van failed to stop and the vehicle made off at speed onto the A530, King Street, travelling towards Middlewich.

"Officers followed the van as it travelled along the A530 around Crewe.

"The vehicle was subsequently brought to the stop on Waldrons Lane, Crewe, after officers deployed a stinger.

The incident ended on Waldrons Lane, Crewe at approximately 12:30am today - October 17 (Google).

"The driver of the van, a 33-year-old man from Crewe, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop."

A number of Crewe residents were woken up by the 'loud' sirens and a police helicopter following the chase.
