Imagine leaving the UK with your family as a youngster to live on the other side of the world in Australia.

That's exactly what Sue Wilson did as a child when her family in Liverpool decided to make a new life in Perth.

Sue, who lives in Belmond Avenue, was just 12-years-old when she set sail for Australia on the Fairsea liner from Southampton.

But it wasn't until years later, after returning to the UK, that Sue decided to sit down and write a book about her fascinating life Down Under.

Her first book, "Ten Pound Poms" received rave reviews and now the talented writer has just released her second book, "The Narrowboat", the sequel to her first novel.

"I always knew I would end up writing," says Sue. "I've got a good memory and it just comes so naturally.

"I sit on my Tablet and write for hours. The only time I stop is if I need something to eat or drink or the toilet."

Sue's first book, "Ten Pound Poms" is a memoir of a young child's life showing the challenges and changes and sometimes the sadness.

The second book, which has just been released, is when Sue is 60 and leaving her matrimonial home for the second time.

Once again she finds herself on a boat – but this time it's a narrowboat which she lives on and starts a new life.

"The Narrowboat", like Sue's first novel, is fascinating, telling the story of how she found love again and all the adventures she had along the way.

"I've had a fascinating life and I thought it would be nice to share it," says Sue who moved to Sandbach earlier this year with her husband Ian, whom "The Narrowboat" is based on.

"Some days I can sit and write for eight hours. I've got a really good imagination. I always knew I would end up writing – it was just a case of when," she said.

Sue and Ian have been out to Australia to look at where Sue spent her childhood and to see where she landed in Australia.

"We spent a month on a boat getting there and lived in a cabin," said Sue. "My sister and I had bunk beds and my mum and dad a bed.

"All our things were packed in a tea chest and cases and I can remember seeing land and Australia for the first time.

"We had lots of happy times but also some sad times and I just wanted to share them."

Sue's second book follows her travels on the narrowboat, taking in the countryside and eventually ending up in London, where Ian proposed.

As the back cover says: "This is a true story of a woman who has suffered heartache and pain but eventually finds peace and happiness".

"The Narrowboat" is available on Amazon  for Kindle at £3.99 or paperback at £11.50.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Narrowboat-Adventures-Pavonis-ebook/dp/B0BHTRVMTJ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=37XWFDD9LV1C0&keywords=The+Narrowboat+Susan+Wilson&qid=1665686363&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjkxIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=the+narrowboat+susan+wilson%2Caps%2C70&sr=8-1
