A life-saving defibrillator has been installed in another part of Sandbach – thanks to Sandbach Town Council.

The town council agreed to fund a project to ensure there is a defibrillator in every ward - meaning wider access for this lifesaving equipment.

Now defibrillators are set to be installed at other locations following the roll-out of the latest one at One Stop Shop in Price Avenue.

The town council had previously provided defibrillators in the town centre but Councillor John Beddows was keen to ensure they were accessible to residents across all wards.

Councillor Beddows worked with the council team, local businesses and local organisations to determine where the new defibrillators were to be best located, and the first was installed recently outside the One Stop Shop.

Cllr Beddows said: "I'm so pleased that my suggestion to spread out our resources was welcomed by the council and the community – look out for the next phases of this project where we plan to install a defibrillator in the remaining wards over the next few months."

Sandbach Town Council Mayor, Cllr Laura Crane, was there to mark the successful installation of the first new defibrillators in Price Avenue.

Cllr Crane said: "I'm delighted to see the successful installation of the first of the new defibrillators, funded by the Town Council, and installed working in partnership with our community.

"I would like to thank the One Stop Shop, and the other organisations involved in this project, for their help to make it happen."

Defibrillators must be registered on the National Database coordinated by the British Heart Foundation to enable them to be activated, and those provided by the Council are checked routinely by the council's ranger.

Residents with suggestions about where they would like others can contact the town council on [email protected].
