The owner of a town centre pub which has changed its name and undergone a massive makeover has released details of its opening date.

Welles & Cross will open next Saturday (December 2nd) and Nick, who has worked in the hostelry trade for a while, can't wait.

"I saw the building come up for sale and I always liked it. I've taken an old building and turned it into a new pub," he said.

"We'll look at bringing food on board in February/March with good British pub food. I'd describe it as taking an old ugly duckling and turning it into something lovely again."

He was head of bar operations for a national group and has worked with brands such as The Botanist to name a few.

This is Nick's first pub but he has plans to open more, once he gets Welles & Cross up and running and on the road to success.
