A caring and courageous five-year-old Sandbach child is raising money for the charity Crisis after learning that sadly for some they may be "cold and possibly hungry".

The amazing story came about after little Arthur Barber was listening to his dad explaining why it was important to shut the front door as they left for rugby practice.

The little boy insisted they started collecting to help "these people" and the rest explains dad, John Barber, chair of Sandbach's world –famous Foden's Band and director at Love Music Trust, is history.

Father-of-two John explained: "One Sunday morning, having made some comment about shutting the front door to keep warm arm in then going on about how expensive it is to heat houses, Arthur asked what happened if you didn't have any money.

"I tried to explain that for some sadly that was the case and they may be cold and possibly hungry.

Arthur then insisted that before we headed to his rugby practicewe should put his home made 'sweetie shop' out on our drive to try and make some money to give to 'the people who might be cold'.

"By the time we got home, he'd raised £2.70 from passers-by who'd kindly dropped some change into his empty butter box – we told him we'll top it up and donate it to the charity Crisis.

"He was really pleased with his efforts and so are we but in an effort to better support Crisis, we set up a Justgiving page."

And Arthur's story has struck a chord with so many people he has raised £625 and money is still pouring in.

The talented little boy has even made a video to thank people for their donations and tell people about his cause.
