New jobs will be created at a logistics depot earmarked for Middlewich if councillors grant planning permission next month.

Tilstone Industrial Ltd has applied to Cheshire East Council for permission to build the 612 square metre depot and office, together with service yard, car parking and HGV parking at plot 51, Pochin Way.

The council's planning officers are recommending the southern planning committee approves the application for the 2.9 hectare area on the Midpoint 18 employment site.

The planning officer states in her report, which will go before the committee on January 5: "This proposal would bring economic benefits through the delivery of new jobs within an established industrial park where the local plan allocates such uses.

"The proposal is compatible with the surrounding development and the design, scale and form of the building would sit comfortably with those within the locality."

She said the impact on neighbouring residential amenity would not be significant and satisfactory access and parking provision can be provided and the development would not result in 'severe harm' on the local highway network.

With regard to air quality, the planning officer said this can be controlled by imposing conditions.

The developer will also have to make a financial contribution towards the Middlewich Eastern Bypass scheme.

According to the design and access statement submitted on behalf of the applicant, the proposal is for a two storey office.

There will be hard standing to serve as a car and HGV trailer park and electric vehicle charging points for cars.

There will also be cycle stands for 20 bikes.

The application, number 21/4863C, can be viewed on the planning portal on the council's website.

It is due to be considered at the next meeting of the southern planning committee which takes place on Wednesday, January 5, at Crewe Municipal Buildings at 10am.
