A Sandbach man is appealing for people to come forward and help solve the mystery of an historic green bottle he found as a child in nearby Bradwall.

HGV driver, Tim Kennerley, found the heavy bottle around 40 years ago while playing near a stream as a youngster.

It wasn't until the 54-year-old was clearing out the garage of his late mother's home recently that Tim came across the bottle again.

"It used to be on the mantle piece at my parents' home for a while but as fashions changed my parents put it away," he said Tim who works for Massey Feeds in Holmes Chapel.

"I was clearing out the house and found it in the garage. I remember finding it as a child and would love to know more about the company."

He added: "I used to play in the woods in Wood Lane and this bottle was sticking out of the steam one day with a clay one.

"I've no idea what happened to the clay bottle but we kept this green one. Someone must know about it.

"It was covered in mud when I took it home as a child but we cleaned it up."

The heavy green bottle, which had some green glass beads inside which possibly had formed a 'stopper', has words on the side.

The name 'S Gilbert Sandbach' is on the bottle and Tim from Cookesmere Lane, whose late father, Peter, was Sandbach police officer, wants to trace the business.
