Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Ann Nevitt, has started off her year in style – by holding a fundraising event for her two charities.

Cllr Nevitt has named Foden's Band and the Friends of Sandbach Cemetery as her two charities for her year in office.

And yesterday (Sunday) she held an afternoon tea with Foden's Band playing at Sandbach Town Hall.

A packed room heard an impressive performance by Foden's Band and enjoyed sandwiches and cakes, including scones with jam and cream.

Cllr Nevitt said: "Thank you so much for coming and I hope you go away happy and contented."

She became mayor at the mayor-making event last week, taking over from outgoing mayor, Councillor Laura Crane.
