Sandbach United Football Club scooped three awards at the Cheshire FA Grassroots Football Awards 2023 - just days before their first team face Macclesfield in a Cheshire Cup match.

The club's first team will be hoping to have the same golden touch when they face Macclesfield's silkmen in the Cheshire Senior Cup tonight (Tuesday).

Sandbach United take on Macclesfield at the Leasing.com Stadium with a 7.45 pm kick-off.

Sandbach United Football Club, based in Hind Heath Road, is going from strength to strength this season.

At the recent FA grassroots Football Awards the club was awarded Inclusive Club of the Year, Stephen Deakin was presented with Grounds Team of the Year and Myles Hocknell won New Volunteer of the Year.

Club Chairman Peter Colclough said: "It fills us all with pride when the club's hard work is recognised at county level.

"To win three awards on the night was just amazing and shows that we are getting things right both on and off the pitch.

"Anyone that visits us can see how good our playing surface is, so for Steve to be acknowledged this way is fantastic.

"Myles played a big part for us last season and more than deserved the New Volunteer award.

"Again, this shows our commitment to helping volunteers get involved in football and supporting them along the way.

"To round things off, the Most Inclusive Club is an award for just about everyone involved whether it be coaches, volunteers, or parents.

"We all play a big part in the club's inclusivity and encourage everyone to come and enjoy our club and facilities regardless of age, race, gender, or ability."

The club now plan to honour its winners at the next men's first team game against Eccleshall on November 11th.
