Staff at an award-winning craft beer bar has brewed up a special beer in memory of its much-loved manager.

Liam Bridle, who managed The Beer Emporium in Welles Street,  sadly died in June at Wythenshawe Hospital following a viral infection.

Now staff at the popular drinking place, which has made it into the CAMRA Good Beer Guide several times, have brewed a beer in his memory.

The Beer Emporium launched a popular 'Emporator' pale ale in May and soon they are launching the '2 Metre Rat' 4.2 per cent pale ale.

Beer Emporium staff member, Della Hyde, and two of her colleagues came up with new pale ale in Liam's memory.

"We wanted to do something to celebrate Liam's life. I worked on the last one, Emporator with Liam and he said I should do the next one," said Della.

"It just seemed fitting to do this one in his memory and we're delighted with the result."

The '2 Metre Rat', will go on sale at the Welles Street bar on September 21st and will be sold in Middlewich as well as Stafford.

A poster, with a caricature of Liam showing his love of music, has been designed showing the new ale.

Sandbach Nub News told here how customers pinned ribbons and messages of condolence on the gate at the Beer Emporium following Liam's death.
