Sandbach's historic church is set to be alive with the sound of music when one of the UK's most renowned folk bands bring their much-loved Christmas show to the most unusual of settings.

Celebrating their 21st anniversary, St Agnes Fountain, who feature Fairport Convention's Chris Leslie, have been called the Christmas band for their constantly evolving take on old carols.

Chris Leslie and multi-award winning duo Chris While and Julie Matthews who make up St Agnes Fountain, will perform at St Mary's Church in Sandbach on Sunday December 5th.

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Leslie, said: "This is the first time The Aggies have played in St Mary's Church and we can't wait to bring our unique sound of Christmas to this beautiful setting.

"Playing our music in a traditional church is always a very special experience and gets everyone into the spirit of the festive season.

"Christmas, as they say, starts with St Agnes Fountain and we are looking forward to playing many of our best loved tunes along with a few new surprises for our Cheshire-based fans."

St Agnes Fountain will be releasing a new album ahead of their Sandbach appearance which will be available for sale at the show.

The album is the band's ninth studio release and the first since becoming a trio following the departure of David Hughes in 2020.

St Mary's Vicar, Rev Bee Boyde said: "We're delighted to have this band coming to our church and very much looking forward to the concert."

Tickets for the Sandbach concert are on sale now priced at £20 from https://promotionswithgusto.co.uk/. They will also be available at the church on the night at a cost of £22.
