A plan to build 325 homes - dubbed 'Hong Kong on The Hill' - has hit the national headlines.

Members of the Sandbach Vs Overdevelopment group fighting the Bloor Homes plan were featured on ITV's Granada Reports last night (Tuesday).

Last night's news item featured interviews with the Leonard Cheshire Home on The Hill which would be impacted by the plan and members of the Sandbach Vs Overdevelopment group.

The group is fighting the application to build homes and a community park on 19.28 hectares of open countryside and agricultural land between Manor Road and the A533, The Hill.

The Bloor Homes application is just one of several plans submitted for housing in Sandbach which will add to town's on-going traffic problem and lack of infrastructure. Doctors, dentists and schools are also at a premium in the town.

The date for members of the public to comment on the Bloor Homes application was extended until 9 October following some revisions to the scheme.

The Sandbach Vs Overdevelopment group said it received 87 complaints in just one day from residents unable to upload their objections to Cheshire East's 'upgraded' planning portal.

Sandbach Heath councillor, Sam Corcoran, has already voiced his opposition to the plan on land either side of The Hill in Sandbach and opposite Leonard Cheshire's Hill House, the latter which was featured in last night's on TV interview.

He says Sandbach is still recovering from the flood of speculative housing applications on greenfield sites from 10 years ago.

"Sandbach has grown by 40 per cent in the last 10 years and the infrastructure (doctors, dentists, primary schools and roads) need to be improved before more houses are built," said Cllr Corcoran previously.

"The sites are not in the Local Plan for development. The sites were considered and rejected when the Local Plan was being considered."
