Motorists have been warned of potential flooded roads following heavy rainfall.

Cheshire Police say they have received multiple calls regarding flooded roads from across the county.

Sergeant Rob Simpson said: "From standing water on lanes of the motorways to impassible country roads. 

"20mph speed limits are appearing on sections of the M62 and other restrictions on the M56 and M6.

"If you are travelling, please take care and expect water on the carriageway ahead. 

"The water can hide hazards too, so avoid entering any.

"Look after other road users and drive to the conditions.

"Please take care."
