BREAKING: Boris Johnson announces new lockdown for Sandbach and England

Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation laying out new national lockdown plans.

These come as Sandbach enters a was entering its first full of Tier Four restrictions as cases continue to rise due to the new COVID variant.

The measures that the Prime Minister announced were:

The government is instructing you to stay at home unless you are shopping for essential, to exercise, to seek medical existence and to escape domestic abuse.

You should only go to work if you absolutely cannot do it at home.

Schools will move to remote learning from tomorrow apart from vulnerable children and those of key workers.

Nurseries will remain open.

Exams in the summer will be cancelled and replaced with different assessments.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of the vaccine.

By the middle of February the first vaccine dose will be offered to all those in the top priority groups if the programme goes well.

Mr Johnson is hopeful that schools can open after the February half-term.

The Prime Minister believes we are 'entering the last phase of the struggle.'
