Three local businesses have come to the rescue to help TV's DIY SOS complete its project for The Joshua Tree charity in Cheshire.

Sandbach-based Little and Large Driveways and Patios have given up 10 days of their time to work on the Northwich-based project, The Joshua Tree.

The charity provides bespoke support to children and their families affected by childhood cancers but due to increasing demand from across the country, it has now outgrown its original base in Cheshire and needed to expand.

DIY SOS collaborated with BBC's One's Morning Live to film the project with the final reveal in November and four members of Little and Large Driveways and Patios have given up their time to work on the project.

Stuart Rowson and wife Jade from Little and Large Driveways and Patios have been working on the site with two other members of their team.

Stuart said: "It's been very full on but we've loved every minute of it. We've been working on the garden which is a place for children to go and relax.

"It looks amazing and we're very excited to be involved. It's been a bit strange being followed round by a camera crew but it's been a lot of fun."

Carbutts Turf in Brereton supplied 400 rolls of turf for the project while Duttons Buildrs Merchants in MIddlewich supplied machinery and materials.

And TV viewers are in for a real treat when it goes live and they see the DIY SOS Children in Need Special featuring Nick Knowles, and his trusty team of Chris, Billy, Radha, Ashley & designer Gabrielle Blackman joined by Morning Live presenters Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton.

The DIY SOS team are transforming the site by extending all the facilities to accommodate more children and their families, all of which will help give young people and their families the crucial support they need to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing and reduce isolation.

Cal Turner, Commissioning Editor for DIY SOS added: "DIY SOS has always shown the power of people coming together to make a real difference. This year's collaboration with Morning Live and BBC Children in Need is incredibly special.

"The build for The Joshua Tree will not only provide vital support to families but will also shine a light on the compassion and generosity of communities across the country."

Emma Morris, Executive Editor, Morning Live added: "The Joshua Tree charity is a very special place and offers invaluable support for families who are going through the toughest of times. DIY SOS."
