Sandbach's Mayor for next year, Councillor Sam Corcoran, is to have a Mayor's cadet.

Following on from the appointment of Councillor Sam Corcoran as Town Mayor (elect) at a recent Town Council meeting, the search has begun for a Town Mayor's Cadet who will support the Mayor in their Civic duties

A Sandbach Town Council spokesperson said: "This is a new role that has been created to provide a young person in Sandbach with a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and represent their local community.

"The Cadet will be invited to undertake civic engagements and attend events in Sandbach that are hosted by the Mayor throughout their Mayoral year.

"These events will include The Mayor Making event, Party in the Park, Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremonies, Sandbach Christmas Lights switch-on and the Civic and Thanksgiving Services."

· A member of a uniformed group or organisation in Sandbach

· Aged over 15 and under 18 on 1^st May 2026

Nominations must be made by Friday 24 April at 12 noon via this link here

The spokesperson added: "Applications will be reviewed by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Town Clerk and shortlisted candidates may be invited in to meet the team as part of the process.

"The successful applicant will be formally appointed at the Mayor Making Ceremony at the Town Hall on Tuesday 20^th May."

A Sandbach Town Council spokesperson added: "We are excited to offer this unique opportunity for a special young person to undertake a high-profile role in their local community. They will have the distinction of being the first Town Mayor's Cadet in Sandbach.

"We want applicants to tell us why they feel they would be a good candidate and what specific qualities they could bring to the role. We look forward to receiving your applications."
