Car fire delays motorists on the northbound M6 near Sandbach at the weekend

A car on fire on the M6 northbound between junctions 18 and 19 at the weekend delayed traffic after a number of lanes were closed while the fire was extinguished.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At 12.40pm on Saturday (18 April) emergency services were made aware of a vehicle fire on the M6 northbound between junctions 18 and 19.

"Firefighters and Highways officers attended and a number of lanes were closed while the fire was extinguished. There were no reports of any injuries."
