World-famous Foden's Band is offering 10 lucky youngsters the chance to take part in a nationally recognised award.

Earlier this year Foden's Band was successful in an application to the Heritage Lottery to fund a number of heritage projects.

One of the projects was for young people to work towards an 'explore arts award', a nationally recognised award using Foden's as inspiration.

The award is an entry level (Entry 3) qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and participants who complete the explore level receive a certificate and can progress to bronze, silver and gold levels.

Foden's spokesman Mark Wilkinson told Sandbach Nub News: "Participants who complete the explore level receive a certificate and can progress to bronze, silver and gold levels.

"The award is free of charge and would be led by a specialist in this field on-line.

"Students would complete a number of activities such as creating a piece of art work, reviewing on line events, researching the band as well as sharing musical experiences and highlights about themselves to others.

"We are looking for 10 volunteers aged between 8 and 16 years who would be asked to commit to between 20 - 35 hours over a 5-month period online.

"The work involved would be fun and would hopefully give participants a greater understanding of the arts, social history as well as a firm knowledge of Foden's fantastic history."

Anyone interested needs to contact [email protected] by tomorrow (Tuesday). The closing date is December 14th.
