Sandbach Nub News has asked the owners of The Chimney House Hotel, the Talash Hotel Group, what their plans are now it no longer houses asylum seekers.

The gates at the landmark Sandbach hotel in Congleton Road are still firmly shut, despite the hotel being handed back earlier this month (August).

The Chimney House Hotel was one of 13 hotels across England which was "handed back to their communities," as confirmed by the Home Office on Tuesday 11 August.

The Tudor-style hotel, close to Junction 17 of the M6, has 51 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar.

It has traditionally provided accommodation for visitors travelling through Sandbach and the wider Cheshire area.

The hotel had been used as contingency asylum accommodation by the Home Office, dating back to at least 2020.

The Talash Hotel Group consists of five hotels across Cheshire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands - The Chimney House Hotel, Sandbach, The Best Western Barons Court Hotel, Walsall, The Best Western Falstaff Hotel, Leamington Spa, The Allesley Hotel, Coventry and the Honiley Court Hotel, Warwick.
