A Sandbach-based entrepreneur has developed a planner designed to help people manage chronic illness through pacing and it's now caught the attention of a national charity.

David Cartwright, founder of Aevum Planners, spent his career in R&D medical diagnostic engineering, specialising in laboratory automation instruments.

That career came to an end when he developed brachial neuritis (Parsonage–Turner syndrome) alongside other chronic conditions, leaving him unable to return to engineering work and facing the day-to-day challenge of managing limited and unpredictable energy.

Rather than step away from problem-solving altogether, David turned his engineering mindset toward a new challenge: building a practical tool to help himself, and others living with chronic illness, manage their energy more effectively.

The result was Aevum Planners; a range of physical and digital planners built around the principle of pacing, with features designed to help users track patterns, plan around low-energy days, and avoid the boom-and-bust cycle that so often worsens symptoms.

The range includes a 60-day Starter Planner for those starting to learn pacing techniques, a 90-day Maintenance Planner for building longer-term habits, and a digital download version for those who prefer working on-screen.

The planners have now been featured in InterAction, the membership magazine of Action for M.E., the national charity supporting people with myalgic encephalomyelitis.
