Church holds pancake morning to raise money for Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal

Members and friends of a Sandbach church dipped into their pockets to help raise cash for the Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal.
New Horizons Methodist Church in Wheelock held a successful pancake morning today (Wednesday).
Around sixty pancakes were made, including Scotch pancakes as well as cups of tea and coffee.

A packed church hall in Crewe Road saw families and members enjoy a hearty treat.
Lay leader, Jayne Bunn said: "We had a marvellous turnout and a great response to the event.

"We're gathering everything together to see how much we have raised but people have been generous."
The event was held today, the day after Pancake Day, so it didn't clash with other events taking place.

There was no set charge – those attending made a donation as well as contributing towards a raffle and a bring and buy sale.
