Detectives investigating the serious assault of a man in Sandbach have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Thomas Dunn was arrested on Monday, 20th February following an incident at an address in the Cecil Rigby Close area of Sandbach.

The 84-year-old of Oakdene Court, Cecil Rigby Close, Sandbach, has since been charged with section 18 assault, wounding with intent.

Dunn appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, 22nd February) where he was remanded in custody. He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 22nd March.

The victim in the case, a 60-year-old local man, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital, where his condition is described as 'critical'.
