A family-run Sandbach-based coffee lounge and interior business is celebrating the Coronation weekend in style – thanks to local school children.

Eagle-eyed visitors to Miola in Lodge Lane Sandbach and London Road, Holmes Chapel will have spotted a difference.

Both the giant T-Rex at Holmes Chapel and the elephant in Sandbach are sporting regal attire and it's thanks to local school children.

Owner Louise Metcalfe, challenged youngsters at two local schools to decorate the popular figures.

Sandbach Nub News told here how Louise runs the business with her son, Wes Jobson, and her partner Carl Farrow, who looks after the other arm of her business, Done 'N' Dusted.

Pupils from Goostrey Community Primary School transformed the giant T Rex into 'C Rex' for the occasion.

And youngsters at Springfield School in Crewe made a stunning crown for the giant elephant which stands in the front of the Sandbach branch.

"Both schools had great fun doing this and it was wonderful to see the results. They are both striking but in different ways," said Louise.

"Well done to both schools for taking up the challenge and helping Miola and our wonderful customers celebrate this historic occasion."

The Goostrey children used recycled items on the giant dinosaur, even giving him size 10 shoes, one on each foot fastened with purple laces and cut out their handprints to create a frilly ruff collar on the cloak.

And they even wrote a description of their work.

"To help celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III we have transformed T Rex into C Rex," they say.

"Resplendent of his Majesty's love of nature we wove a willow base for the crown and decorated it with jewel fir cones.

"We recycled banners to use as fur on C Rex's cloak – lots of us had a hand in this!

"We hope we have made you smile on this most special of occasions."

Congratulations to both schools for their work and Sandbach Nub News hopes Miola customers have great fun celebrating the royal weekend.
