A CONSULTATION on plans to close ticket offices at local stations has been extended after an outcry from passengers. .

Train operators across the UK have extended the consultation by an extra five and a half weeks, meaning it has been extended until September 1st.

The consultation on closing about 1,000 ticket offices across the country was due to finish at midnight on Wednesday, July 26th.

Sandbach Nub News told here on Wednesday, 5th July how the government had announced proposals to close nearly every railway station ticket office across England - with Sandbach included.

Now the consultation period has been extended over the summer giving passengers more time to have their say.
