Elworth Grange care home in Sandbach has been praised by local independent consumer champion, Healthwatch Cheshire East, following an inspection.

The Healthwatch Cheshire East (HCE) representatives performed an unannounced inspection at Elworth Grange, observing the care provided, the environment in the home, the food and drink, safeguarding procedures, and staff care.

They then published their findings in an 'Enter and View' report, which is made available to healthcare standards organisations across the country.

The representatives were impressed by the 'welcoming' feel in the care home, commending its 'high standards' of cleanliness and furnishings.

The report stated: "Elworth Grange is very person-centred and tries to make it a real home for residents.

"There is a homely feel throughout the premises with lots of attention to details; for example, there were photos of residents on bookshelves."

The HCE representatives described the home's team as 'caring' and 'respectful'.

They continued: "Staff we met were all extremely pleasant and forthcoming and were seen to interact with residents in a caring and empathic manner.

"There are monthly resident surveys as well as meetings where any ideas or feedback can be raised as well as discuss upcoming events and activities.

"The representatives also praised the care home's kitchen team, who 'know the residents very well and take time to speak to them and discuss their likes and dislikes."

Home Manager at Elworth Grange, Rachel McIntosh, said: "I'm so proud of our team for making Elworth Grange such a warm and welcoming place to live and work.

'It's our priority to make sure every resident who lives with us received the very best person-centred care in a loving environment, and we're so pleased that this shone through in our 'Enter and View' report.'

Elworth Grange is a residential and dementia care home, operated by Ideal Carehomes. All 66 bedrooms are en-suite with a wet room and shower, enabling staff to deliver person-centred care in a dignified manner, promoting independence as far as possible.
