Council unable to collect bins in and around Haslington today after snow disruption

By The Editor   9th Jan 2026

Haslington residents have been told their refuse bins will not be collected today (January 9), after ongoing disruption caused by adverse weather earlier in the week.

Cheshire East confirmed that while collection rounds are operating today for scheduled black bin (refuse) and recycling collections across most areas, crews are unable to return to Haslington as part of catch-up work following snow and poor weather conditions on Monday 5 January.

Haslington is among several areas affected, alongside Nantwich, Audlem, Stapeley, Shavington and Wybunbury.

Refuse collections have also been suspended today in Disley and Poynton as crews prioritise other routes.

A council spokesperson said waste teams are continuing to work through a significant backlog created by snow earlier in the week, combined with increased volumes of refuse and recycling typically seen at this time of year.

"While we may not be able to complete all scheduled and missed collections, crews are working hard to empty as many bins as possible," the spokesperson said.

"All missed bins and incomplete rounds are logged on our system, and we aim to return as soon as we are able as part of our catch-up collections following the festive period."

Cheshire East added there has been no further disruption from Storm Goretti and thanked residents for their patience and understanding as crews continue recovery efforts.

Residents are advised to leave missed bins out where possible and to check council updates for the latest information on revised collection dates.
