Motorists faced delays yesterday after a bypass connecting Sandbach and Crewe was temporarily closed - allowing Cheshire Police to support the welfare of a girl on a bridge.

The incident on Bradeley Hall Road, above the A534 Haslington bypass, happened at 3:10pm on Monday (October 24).

Cheshire Police closed the Crewe bypass for approximately two hours - allowing officers to support the welfare of the girl.

Today (October 25), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "At around 3.10pm on Monday (October 24), police were called to concerns for the safety of a girl on Bradeley Hall Road, Haslington.

"Officers attended and she was taken to hospital in an ambulance for further checks."

Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the A534 Haslington bypass was closed as a 'safety precaution.'

The girl was eventually brought down safely from the bridge and handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service paramedics.

At 5:05pm, Cheshire Police made an announcement of the road re-opening on social media.

A statement read: "Road closures have now been lifted on the A534 bypass between Crewe and Sandbach.

"The female was brought down safely from the bridge and has since bene handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service."

"Thank you for your patience."
