A South Cheshire business owner is walking across burning hot coals in bare feet shortly to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

The passion for home care for Ben Selby, managing director of Right at Home South Cheshire, was shaped by his own grandad, Albert, who sadly passed away after living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease for almost 10 years.

Ben launched Right at Home South Cheshire ten years ago, serving residents across Sandbach and Alsager as well as further afield, and now the proud business owner is doing a fire walk challenge here on x September for Dementia Adventure.

He said: "Dementia Adventure is an incredible charity that gives people living with dementia fantastic experiences enabling them to continue loving life to the fullest.

"Personally, this means so much as I know my grandad would have loved to have had this opportunity when he went through his dementia journey."

He added: "We're doing it to challenge our mindset, face our fears, and to raise money for a cause very close to our hearts."

Right at Home partners with Dementia Adventure, as it recognises the difference that the right support can make to families impacted by the condition.

The charity focuses on what people can do, rather than what limits them - encouraging confidence, independence and meaningful engagement with the natural world.

A spokesperson for Right at Home said: "As well as collaborating to promote the benefits of their ethos, we have committed to raising £40,000 to support the amazing experiences they give, to families who might otherwise believe the opportunity to enjoy good times together has passed.

"Through their supported holidays, training and research, Dementia Adventure remove barriers, improve confidence, and increase opportunities for people to stay active, keep connected to family and friends, and retain a sense of adventure in their lives.

"We're bringing that sense of adventure into our work lives later this year, with a group fire walk challenge. Please support our mission by helping me reach my sponsorship target.

"No amount is too small; every pound donated will be gratefully received and will go directly to Dementia Adventure's work supporting quality of live for families living with dementia. Thank you."
