Pub honours late Hairy Biker with charity crisp eating contest in Sandbach

A Sandbach pub is throwing its weight behind a national fundraising campaign in memory of the late Hairy Biker, Dave Myers' chosen charities.

And a sponsored crisp eating competition is just one of the events taking place at The Lion in High Street on Sunday (June 22nd) for Childline and Cancer Care.
Four regulars will be tasked with eating 20 or more bags of crips with just one pint of fluid in between in the hope of raising hundreds of pounds for the charities.

Operator, Steve Dargavel said: "We ran the event at a pub in Newport South Wales and we raised around £2,500. We're hoping to do the same on Sunday.
"Come along and watch and take part in the other events taking place. It'll be a great occasion."
The 'Dave Day Funday' starts at 3 pm with various 'Open the Box', 'Stars in their Eyes', 'Play Your Cards Right', 'Deal or No Deal' and 'Stars in their Eyes'.

The Lion is also holding a Food Bank Collection as part of the same day - with donations, particularly toiletries, welcome.
The event is part of a national campaign by Amber Taverns who own The Lion along with a host of other pubs throughout the UK.
