Delays after car on fire in one lane of the M6 southbound near Sandbach

Three fire engines went to the scene of a car on fire yesterday (Thursday) on the M6 southbound between junctions 18 to 17 (Sandbach).

Three fire engines from Winsford, Crewe and Knutsford went to the scene of the accident at 8.09 am

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish a car which was on fire in lane one of the M6 southbound between junctions 18 to 17.

"The occupant of the vehicle is believed to be safe and well. Highways were also in attendance to manage the traffic."
