A developer has explained what work is currently being done near the Waitrose roundabout in Sandbach following complaints from residents.

Sandbach Heath resident, Sarah Bradley, voiced concerns over preliminary work being carried out as part of the Anwyl Homes 'Palmer's Cross' development which will provide 203 homes as we revealed here.

She said none of the residents in the properties directly impacted on Saxon Way or Palmer Road were notified and the noise was "in excess and potentially in excess of permitted noise levels".

But Anwyl say work like this does not necessarily require direct notification to neighbouring residents or acoustic screening measures.

A spokesperson for Anwyl Homes told Nub News: "We've been carrying out preparatory work to enable the new access road into our Palmer's Cross development from the A534/A535 roundabout.

"This dedicated access will provide a direct route into the site for construction vehicles and future residents, helping to minimise traffic impacts on existing neighbouring roads.

"As part of these works, tree pruning has recently been completed by an experienced contractor. Activities of this nature do not ordinarily require direct notification to neighbouring residents or acoustic screening measures.

"All works are carefully planned, risk assessed and undertaken in line with approved health and safety procedures. The tree works have now been completed and the area has been left clean and tidy.

"We always aim to minimise disruption to those living nearby and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"We're currently finalising the programme for forthcoming site investigation works, which start on Saturday, 17 October, and are expected to last approximately a week."
