Residents who had to be evacuated after an Asda delivery van collided with a block of flats are to be allowed back into their homes today (Monday)

People living in Longcross Court, Lewin Street, in Middlewich had to leave their homes on Thursday (1st February) following the incident at 4.20 pm.

They have spent the weekend in a nearby hotel while property owners, Regenda Homes, awaited the outcome of a structural report.

All but the resident of the property directly impacted are being allowed back into their homes today (Monday).

A spokesperson from Regenda Homes said: "We have received confirmation from the Local Authority and our own structural surveyors that with the exception of the home directly impacted, all properties have been declared safe to move back into.

"Regenda staff are assisting people so they can be back in their homes today (Monday, February 5th).

"We are working with the remaining resident whose property was badly affected by the incident concerning an Asda delivery on February 1st to ensure their immediate and longer-term housing needs are met.

"We are holding a meeting for residents tomorrow (February 6th) at 5 pm in Middlewich Town Hall which representatives from Asda have been invited to attend following requests from our residents."
