It's the big Christmas lights switch on tomorrow (Saturday) in Sandbach and one lucky children has been chosen to press the magic button.

Mayor Councillor Ann Nevitt ran a competition with Sandbach library to choose a child aged seven and above to switch the lights on.

And tomorrow the identiy of the lucky person will be revealed when they step on stage and help start the sparkle and magic for Christmas 2024 in Sandbach.

The Christmas lights switch on takes place on The Cobbles and is hosted by Silk FM from 2 pm until 6 pm. There will be live music and entertainment galore including a fire breather and Christmas stilt walkers.

The big switch on is at 5 pm and events will finish with singing Christmas carols alongside Father Christmas and Minnie Mouse.

The festive fun continues next Friday (December 6th) when Sandbach Christmas Market takes place fro 3 pm until 8 pm. There will be over 100 festive stalls with Christmas gift ideas, festive treats and speciality food, choirs signing Christmas carols and brass bands playing.

The Christmas market takes place on The Cobbles in the High Street, Little Common, indoor market and the Olive and Stitch market inside Sandbach Town Hall.
