The father of seven year Patryk Milner who died after he collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest has heaped praise on Sandbach Rugby Club.

Andy Milner, who with his wife Aggie Bednarczyk, runs Symphony Hospitality at the Bradwall Road club says his work and colleagues there have been a lifeline.

Their son's inquest was heard at Warrington Coroner's Court this week that Patryk died of natural causes with a medical cause of death as sudden cardiac dysrhythmia.

Sandbach Nub News told in October 2020 here. how the unfortunate events unfolded.

Mr Milner says the inquest this week brought back memories of the sad events in October 2020 but he has vowed to continue raising money for the charity set up in memory of his son and he says he has taken some comfort from the book of poems he wrote since his son's death.

Patryk's Poems, a book of 18 poems, features one which is on his headstone at Sandbach Cemetery.

It reads: "We feel you everywhere, in the sun, the earth and the wind blowing through our hair.

"Your golden skin and deep brown eyes, your sparkling smile with that cheeky disguise.

"We miss you so much. Always in our minds but we miss your touch.

"One day we will meet again in heaven's bright place, we will wait until then."

Andy says he had never written poems before but felt writing words down helped him to get through difficult moments.

"I realise now how musicians write songs and how they put the lyrics together.

"The rugby club has been great and very supportive. It's like one big family here and if I need support it was always there."

Patryk was a well-known face at the club, along with his sister Chrissy, and had been a part of the club from a very young age.

"I do feel as though I have taken a step back this week due to the inquest which has brought it all back.

"It is hard and there are certain times of the year when it's worse but it's important to move forward," said Andy.
