Firefighters went to an area in Wheelock yesterday (Monday) after a gas cylinder had overheated in the high temperatures.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters did attend and ventilated the contents of the cylinder. A hose reel was on standby, but not used."

An eye witness said: "One of the gas bottles over heated in the sun. The fire engine had a job to get down the lane and they made the site safe by hosing over the ground and moving the bottles."
